Ambrosia Parsley, known to many fans as Shivaree, has taken on her own individual identity in her musical career with her newest EP I Miss You. I Do. The EP contains five songs and serves as somewhat of a preview for her forthcoming album Weeping Cherry. I Miss You. I Do. was almost titled “Four Funerals and a Wedding,” and Parsley notes that the album is about many ghosts as well as two young, fresh lives. Nervous Nellie’s music has never formally reached the United States, but that all finally changes with the upcoming release of the band’s most recent effort, Gloves EP. The title track from the album is a bouncy tune that the guys say was inspired by aspects of a Tom Petty song. “The idea for the song came after hearing an old Tom Petty drum pattern on an oldies station when out driving one day,” said Henrik Jonzon, the groups guitar player and lead vocalist. “After building the beat at the breakfast table the following morning the rest just came naturally.” You... read more
Album Stream: Hilly Eye - Reasons to Live
Hilly Eye is the collaboration of guitarist and vocalist Amy Klein and drummer and vocalist Catherine Tung. The two have been working together since 2009, and began as an effort between Klein (formerly of Titus Andronicus) and Tung to create something noisey and primitive while maintaining elements of psychedelia. Hilly Eye’s forthcoming album Reasons to Live embodies exactly that, from the droning guitars to the aggressive vocals. It’s an effort that makes use of soft sounds as well as violent, loud ones.
