Song Premiere: CHURCHES - "Lovelife"
CHURCHES is comprised of members from Rogue Wave, WATERS, and Port O’Brien, but their sound as a whole is decidedly original. With their self-titled debut EP behind them, CHURCHES is set to release a 7" on December 11. The A-side, “Lovelife,” was born when frontman Caleb Nichols recorded a melody on his phone as it popped into his head on a casual drive. Lyrics began to come together later, and the song became a representation of his frustration with the trials faced by the LGBT community in the public spotlight. Alaskan singer-songwriter Kate Earl released Stronger today via Downtown Records, and the album seems to communicate her newfound independence as an artist. Stronger was recorded in a six-day session with collaborator Brett Dennen at The Village Recorders in Los Angeles, Calif. Earl emerged from the studio with a variety of options to lead the way on her newest effort. From standout single “One Woman Army” to the softer, soulful “Wicked Love,” Earl has taken on a more dynamic quality at this stage in her career.
