Julian Koster visits the Paste offices on Carolling tour It was as still as a "Silent Night" while we waited for Julian Koster of The Music Tapes (ex-Neutral Milk Hotel) —stopping at the Paste studio during his month-long caroling tour —to play his first note on Badger, his nine-year-old singing saw. Nobody breathed. Then Koster put his bow to the bent metal and a tone as pure as snow on a Christmas morning issued from it. Duncan Sheik plays the Paste studio

Only two dates into his Fall tour, singer-composer Duncan Sheik stopped by the Paste office to preview a few tracks off his upcoming album, Whisper House, due in late Jan. 2009. The songs, which were written by Sheik and librettist Kyle Jarrow, are the musical quotient for the Keith Powell-directed (that's 30 Rock's Toofer to you) production about a boy who comes to live with his aunt in a lighthouse in New England after his father dies in WWII, only to find that there are ghosts and spies around as well.... read more

Ben Kweller has covered a lot of genres in his musical life, but his forthcoming album Changing Horses (due Jan. '09) is a little bit country.
