"Who Is Bon Iver?" Tumblr Arrives
“Bon Iver (Bonny Bear) just won 2 Grammys. Most of us know who they are. This blog is about the people who don’t,” reads the face page of the “Who Is Bon Iver” Tumblr. Now neither party seems to be too pleased about this Grammy bit, with two consistent responses to Bon Iver’s Grammy win on Twitter: 1. Who is “Bonny Bear?” 2. Bon Iver circa 2008 doesn’t qualify as “Best New Artist” And in this medium of social networking where consumer opinions and beliefs become the backbone of conversation, the public has become pretty vocal on the controversy. At... read more
Requiem for a Dream Gets Re-Imagined with Puppets
You’d think adding puppets might lighten the mood for anything, but as a Fake Film Fest entry proves, that’s not necessarily true. A video posted by Skelemo on YouTube depicts Darren Aronofsky’s classic Requiem for a Dream with puppets, and the result is, well, super creepy. The re-imagined clip was done by Brendan James Boyd, Jess Wood, Matthew Jacques, Marcela Rausch, Ali Hasan, Dusty Hagerud, and Karla Kampars with music by Michael Gordon, Live for Films pointed out. Take a look below to see the film’s most recognized scenes recreated, including the signature shot of an eye dilating, only this... read more
Ask Community's Dean Pelton Anything You Want
Ever wanted to ask the flamboyant dean of Greendale Community College a question? Now you can thanks to Ask Dean Pelton, a hilarious Tumblr that offers people the chance to ask Dean Pelton burning questions that are answered with unique drawings of the man himself. Most questions involve how good-looking Jeff Winger is or what it feels like to hug Jeff Winger or what Jeff Winger’s torso is like (we’re getting the feeling Community fans are just as obsessed with Winger as the Dean is), but since the site just started a few weeks ago, we’re sure that a variety... read more
Reading Rainbow Twitter Handle Returned to Its Rightful Owner
It’s always great to see something returned to its rightful owner, especially when that “something” is Reading Rainbow’s Twitter account and that someone is Levar Burton. Maybe it was his appearance on Community that showed the former Reading Rainbow host how important the show was to some people. Because just yesterday, Burton tried contacting the account @readingrainbow, which hadn’t tweeted in three years, to try to reach out to fans of the show. At first, Burton tweeted directly at the account, but then moved on to higher authorities, and within hours Twitter seems to have taken care of that problem... read more
Listen to the Flaming Lips Collaborate with Siri
The Flaming Lips’ recent track “Now I Understand” has an unexpected —and not even human— guest on it. The track samples Siri, the super-intelligent personal assistant found on most iPhones. The track sees Siri directly addressing frontman Wayne Coyne, stating “Wayne, I don’t understand the moon, the stars and the sun.” Apparently the Lips’ music changed that for the monotone PA, who comes to some sort of resolution at the end. Take a listen to the track below. ... read more
Watch the Return of Ferris Bueller
The Internet blew up last night with the mysterious 10-second video of a middle-aged Ferris Bueller claiming, “How can I handle work on a day like today?” The date of the Super Bowl pops up on a black screen, which made many believe it was just a great marketing scheme to prep for a Super Bowl commercial. Now Chicagoist (a website from Ferris’ hometown) has reported that a source claims it is a teaser for a Honda commercial. Oh, how the mighty Ferris has fallen. Remember when he drove around town in a Ferrari? It looks like he had his... read more
Watch What Happens When a Cell Phone Rings During a Recital
During a recital, a classically trained musician requires and deserves complete silence. We’ve all seen the episode of Seinfeld where Jerry and Elaine laugh over a Pez dispenser and it causes George’s pianist girlfriend to go on a tirade. For some reason we love seeing people freak out, but this is a fresh take on responding to a disturbance in the audience. Watch how this violist (that’s someone who plays the viola, if you didn’t know) handles a a cell phone ringing during his performance. ... read more
Bon Joviver - "You Give Love a Bad Name"
Here are three things we absolutely love: Bon Iver, ‘80s rock and song covers. Miracles of Modern Science decided to take Bon Jovi’s classic “You Give Love a Bad Name” and perform it in the style of Justin Vernon’s band. The video they filmed is only a snippet of the song, but here’s hoping if enough people ask for it, we shall receive a full length song. Check out the video below and be sure to demand a full version of this Bon Joviver song. ... read more
Watch President Obama Sing Al Green
Today you can go ahead and add “singer” to the President’s list of duties. At a recent fundraiser, President Obama broke out into a few bars, and in case you can’t tell from the crowd’s reaction, it went over pretty well. And he just doesn’t just sing—he sings Al Green. I mean, come on. ... read more

The Official SOPA Protest Song: "The Day the LOLCats Died"
We just published an article recently about how there hasn’t been a great protest song of this generation. Well, looks like we were wrong. It turns out Ben Huh was just waiting for something worthy of a protest in the eyes of the technology generation. Today’s blackout from sites like Wikipedia, Reddit and Live Journal in response to SOPA/PIPA is only a stepping stone. Now there’s an anthem we can all sing together once and for all. Watch this, spread this and in the words of Huh, “speak up before the internet dies.” ... read more
Jimmy Fallon Invents “Te-Bowie”
Even if Jesus really is getting sick of watching Denver Broncos quarterback Tim Tebow on Sundays, pop culture is apparently not done mocking his evangelistic tendencies and the sports media’s sick obsession with reporting “Tebow-mania.” Enter late night TV host Jimmy Fallon, with his brilliant mash-up of Tebow and David Bowie. As he sings in a cover of “Space Oddity,” “This is Jesus Christ to Tim Tebow, please leave me alone.” We couldn’t agree more. Watch the Te-Bowie hilarity below: ... read more
Blue Ivy Has Already Accomplished More Than You Have
Blue Ivy Carter set the record for being the youngest person ever to appear on the Billboard charts thanks to Jay-Z’s hit (which charted at 74) “Glory.” We’re going to take a look at another one of her accomplishments, the first less-than-a-week old baby with a parody Twitter account that has 25,000 Twitter followers, by looking at five of her best tweets so far. She tweets anything from discussing her Gucci sheets at the hospital to complaining about “basic bitch babies” and already calls her parents by their first names because she crawls so hard. ... read more
Album Covers Remade with Clip Art
A Tumblr called Clip Art Covers has been putting out hilarious and creative interpretations of albums created with, you guessed it, Clip Art. The images have been spreading across the internet pretty quickly and feature iconic covers such as the Beach Boys’ Pet Sounds and Pink Floyd’s Wish You Were Here, except they’re remade with the same images that graced about every PowerPoint presentation you saw in the ‘90s. You can take a look at some of our favorites below, and check out the full site here. The White Album Pet Sounds Straight Outta Compton Andy Warhol ... read more
Your Guide to New Music: "ColorHits"
How do you go about finding your new music? Is it by word of mouth? Do you stumble upon it? Do you walk into a record store and with closed eyes pull an album from a pile, hoping the mass that has landed in your hand will turn to gold? What about by title? Weird phrases? What about an album color search? That’s what we said, “color search.” So say you type in Phoenix’s Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix. Out pops Franz Ferdinand, The xx, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs, all due to album color. Pretty awesome, yeah? That’s the idea behind ColorHits.... read more

Wilco Jams with Mavis Staples and Nick Lowe
“Tweeeday,” as veteran soul singer Mavis Staples calls him, has been on a roll the past few months. The Wilco lead singer has gone viral recently from announcing the weather on local Chicago television station WGN-TV and covering The Black Eyed Peas’ “I Gotta Feeling” and “My Humps” at Dan Sinker’s book release party. Today, though, Wilco tweeted a slightly more serious, albeit still outrageously awesome video. Before a show at the Civic Opera House in Chicago last month, Staples and singer-songwriter Nick Lowe joined the guys for a rousing rendition of The Band’s hit “The Weight.” Time for a... read more
Kanye West’s Twitter Rant: A Paste Guide
Absence might make the heart grow fonder, but Kanye West’s return to his Twitter rants of the past got a little ridiculous last night. The rapper and clothing designer went all “H.A.M.;" on the social networking website, tweeting 91 times to make up for lost time and to clarify a few things about his fashion line. In the process, West quoted Leonardo Da Vinci and George Bernard Shaw. Here’s a few things we learned by taking a look at West’s feed where he clarified how he got into designing and talked about his newest creative project, DONDA. You can check... read more
