Slingers Sizzle Reel (Awesome of the Day)

It’s not an existing TV show. It’s not even a pilot. Creator Mike Sizemore is still putting the finishing touches on that, as well as starting to write the first six episodes. But there’s a sizzle reel. And it looks freaking awesome. It takes place in the Swinging Sixties—2263, to be precise. With a tagline, “Getting home – one heist at a time,” it looks like a futuristic Ocean’s Eleven, and may be the first show set in space since Battlestar Galactica that could reach beyond a sci-fi audience if it finds the right network.

Starring Sean Pertwee, Margot Stilley, Tom Mison, Haruka Abe and Adrian Bower, it feels British, but it’s a Canadian/Irish production from Sleepydog. Sizemore says on his website that he’s planned the show through three seasons and that he hopes the first will air in 2010. But for now, we have the sizzle reel.
