Nothing says ‘nominate me for an Emmy’ like shopping mall installation art. At least, that’s what the folks at NBC Universal are banking on.
NBC Uni’s campaign for Emmy nominations is decidedly unique this season. The company has installed nine mannequin displays—each depicting a scene from one of its hit television series—in three Bloomingdale’s department stores around West Los Angeles.
Shoppers can visit the plasticized casts (arranged in familiar scenes and situations by NBC Uni art directors) of House, 30 Rock and Parks & Recreation at the Century City store, Friday Night Lights, Law & Order: SVU and Community at the Beverly Center store, and Parenthood, The Office and Law & Order at the Sherman Oaks store.
On top of that, every character showcased wears merchandise available at his or her respective Bloomingdale’s, meaning a super fan could literally buy the clothes off of, say, Detective Olivia Benson’s back.
Beats the hell out of a mailer.
NBC’s installations will remain on display in their LA locations (strategically chosen by the network as Emmy voter hot-spots) through June 20.
