Girl Talk Gets Mashed Up

Mashup artist Girl Talk and his heavy use of sampling have long been considered a controversial approach to creating new music. Some remain critical of his liberal usage of samples-—usually taken without proper authorization or crediting. But for many, his musical dissections are experimental and brilliant methods in creating sonic collages. Whatever your opinion, Girl Talk has just gotten a taste of his own medicine.

Mashable recently posted an article about Evan Roth’s “Mashed Up Mashup,” in which the artist resamples Girl Talk’s mashups. By combining portions Girl Talk’s Night Ripper and All Day, Roth was able to create a mashup of mind-blowing proportions. While the “Mashed Up Mashup” straddles the line between intriguing work and oversampled chaos, it still remains an interesting progression of the mashup as we know it.
