For the uninitiated, the chorus at New York’s Public School #22 have their own site and YouTube channel and have been producing covers of popular indie songs for quite a while now, including “Lisztomania” by Phoenix, “Kids” by MGMT and most recently “Round and Around” by Ariel Pink, among others. But they’re not relegated to purely indie, having covered Lady Gaga and and Coldplay in the past, as well.
We really wish chorus teachers around the country did this; chorus would’ve been a huge attraction if we got to sing good songs instead of “Rudolph The Red-Nosed Reindeer” for the 472nd time (and no, that is not a good song. We don’t care how much you like Christmas).
Oh, and you know the kids doing background vocals on a few Passion Pit tracks? Take a guess who they are (hint: here’s a post about them performing “Let Your Love Grow Tall”)
