Watch The Shins' "Clapping Butter" Commercial

Have you ever wondered how to get that crisp, pristine clapping sound found on The Shins’ albums? You’ll be glad to know that the secret of that sound is available to everyone, but it’s not free. The Shins released a video today through Funny or Die for a mock advertisement for a product called “Clapping Butter.”

The advertisement shows frontman James Mercer struggling to achieve the perfect hand clap sound while recording Port of Morrow single “Simple Song.” Thanks to the clapping butter, he’s on his way to crisp, majestic studio clap tracks. Watch the hilarious clip below.
