For the past two and a half years, while we’ve all been passively enjoying our favorite movies, amateur filmmakers and friends Jonason Pauley and Jesse Perrotta have taken things a step further. Well, actually, a couple thousand steps further.
The Arizona residents decided to recreate Toy Story in its entirety with real toys. They transformed rooms in their house, repurposed Goodwill toys and recruited kids on the street to help, Perrotta told the East Valley Tribune. The finished product matches the beloved 1995 film scene for scene, even down to the Walt Disney Pictures intro.
“If Toy Story was in real life this is what it would look like,” Perrotta said. “Someone who knows the movie really well will say, ‘Wow, that tiny thing in the background they got right.”
Last October, Pauley and Perrotta were waiting for permission from Pixar before releasing the finished product and it seems the studio has given the duo their seal of approval. This past week they went to Pixar headquarters and even passed out DVDs.
