In 2008, rapper Wale released Mixtape About Nothing sampling that infamous show about nothing throughout. With a guest appearance by Julia Louis-Dreyfuss and countless Seinfeld references, the acclaimed album proved the up-and-coming rapper was in fact something—a rising voice in the hip-hop community and a force to be reckoned with.
For this year’s full-length album, Wale decided to again honor the show with Album About Nothing and even recruited the man himself.
In a video interview, Jerry Seinfeld says he learned of the rapper from his wife—who is a big fan—and when he was asked to collaborate, he couldn’t pass up the opportunity: “I got the call from Wale and DJ Omega here, they called me to come in, I had to be here. If I’m gonna do this, this is the guys I’m gonna do it with. And now I did it, and that’s it.”
