FBI Uses Portlandia Sketch as Training Tool

While not even the weirdest round of a word association game would lead you to pair Portlandia with the FBI, for some reason, the IFC comedy and the Federal Bureau of Investigation have managed to cross paths, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

In April, an instructor at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Va., approached Portlandia producers asking to use a clip from the show in the agency’s advanced-intelligence classes that focus on terrorism, espionage and other crime. The requested clip is from the “Sanitation Twins” skit, which parodies recycling culture by allocating bins for ridiculous items such as fingernails and lipstick-marked coffee lids.

“This falls under the surreal category,” said Portlandia co-star Carrie Brownstein. “We granted permission, although he didn’t tell us why he was interested.”
