Australian baker Rhiannon is the genius behind this series of videogame-themed fondant cakes. She’s a self-taught baker whose educational background is in zoology. Her Super Mario Bros. cake features level two of the game and includes all the usual suspects and icons, from the goombas to the not-so-secret beanstalk.
Another one of Rhiannon’s cakes is modeled after Furnix from The Legend of Zelda. Using wire and foil, she molded the Phoenix-like enemy from the game’s Skyward Sword edition. The cake was completed as part of an artists collaboration on deviantART, and it was no easy feat. The wings alone took around 15 hours to complete.
The Legend of Zelda is a reoccurring theme in Rhiannon’s fan art cakes. She’s tackled Sage Medallion cupcakes and a Scrapper cake, as well.
While she claims to be an amateur, Rhiannon’s work speaks otherwise. You can view more of her creative cakes and other baking endeavors on her exploratory food blog Cakecrumbs.
