Michelle Obama Enlists Run D.M.C., Doug E. Fresh to Promote Healthy Eating
In a move that will surely make the internet implode upon itself, it appears that Michelle Obama has entered the rap game. Well, kind of. While the First Lady has been promoting the increased awareness of healthy living, nobody expected that it would blossom into this. NBC Chicago reports that Michelle Obama recently enlisted a handful of hip-hop artists to work on an album for her “Lets Move!” campaign.
The album will feature acts like Run D.M.C, Ashanti, Jordin Sparks and Doug E. Fresh, in a move that will surely makes kids across the country wonder, “who the hell is Doug E. Fresh?” The album is set for a September release, but 10 music videos will be released exclusively to New York City Schools to promote the campaign. While the videos will eventually make their way to other cities, the first single “Everybody” has already made its way to the web, and it’s made of solid gold.
With rappers like Chief Keef spreading the dreadful, unhealthy word of “Macaroni Time,” clearly “Lets Move!” has some ground of their own to cover. But how are we going to reach kids without enlisting in the help of Dr. Oz with an iced out stethoscope? Oz raps about caloric intake and regular exercise while Jordin Sparks leads the track with motivational verses about being healthy and “turning your frowns upside down.” You can’t make this up.
