Cookie Monster Struggles with Self-Control in a Spoof of Icona Pop's "I Love It"
They say the first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem, and in his new music video, The Cookie Monster does just that. The Sesame Street character most famous for his lack of self-control around junk food is now attempting to learn some restraint in “Me Want It (But Me Wait),” a parody of Icona Pop’s hit “I Love It.” No matter how old you are, you have give Sesame Street due credit for keeping content relevant.
While grappling with his deep-rooted addiction to baked goods and staring at a bowl of cookies in googly eyed wonder, Cookie Monster—joined by other Sesame Street characters, including Gladys the Cow and Butch the Bengal tiger—shows off some groovy dance moves and sings about the significance of self-regulation. “Me want it, but me wait,” he says, while the hashtag #controlmeself flashes across the screen. “When me lose control, when me on the brink, need to just calm down, me need to stop and think,” he reflects.
The video is part of Sesame Street‘s recent campaign for healthy eating, and the show’s 44th season, which launches in September, will offer a “new self-regulation and executive function curriculum.”
“This not easy,” the fluffy blue monster sighs. We know, Cookie Monster. We know. Check out the hilarious music video above.
