At the Barrel Republic, a new pub in San Diego’s Pacific Beach neighborhood, customers get to pour their own beers. Barrel Republic is the latest in a growing number of self-serve beer concepts. Grab the glass of your choice and head to the wall of taps, where tablets explain what each beer has to offer and keep track of your tab. Pour your own beer and pay by the ounce when you’re finished. It’s essentially the frozen yogurt self-serve system, but with beer. And no candy toppings.
Dozens of self-serve bars have popped up in the last two years across the country, so hopefully, it’s only a matter of time before you find yourself pouring your own at your favorite neighborhood watering hole. Check out the video below to see how one of the self-serve systems works.
