Watch Key and Peele Try (and Fail) to Break the World Record for Impressions in a Minute

With their absolutely killer “Luther” sketches, comedy team Keegan-Michael Key and Jordan Peele might have the best Obama impersonation in the world right now, but it turns out their act becomes somewhat less than presidential under pressure.

According to Mr. Show alum and bowtie aficionado Paul F. Tompkins, the world record for most impressions in one minute is 32, so when he had the master mimics on his web series Speakeasy this week he tasked them with breaking it by two. Unfortunately for them, imitating 34 celebrities in under two seconds a piece is actually pretty tough, even if most of your impression are just saying “I’m gonna smoke some weed” in a funny voice.

Giving it the old college bowl try, the comic duo ended up clocking in at a non-record-shattering one minute 47 seconds, a time that, Key noted, will only make “the Heineken Book of World Records.”
