Americans know December as that special time of year when people put aside their differences to come together and record irrelevant Christmas albums, which this holiday season means regrettable releases from acts like Kool & the Gang and the cast of Duck Dynasty. Rarely, however, do we get our jingle bells rung by anyone that shreds as hard as trash metal-ers Megadeth, who spread their own, heavily distorted version of yuletide cheer last night on Jimmy Kimmel Live!.

Along with fairly faithful renditions of “Frosty the Snowman” and “The Little Drummer Boy,” Dave Mustaine and company got a chance to present their own take on holiday classics with songs like “Do You Hear What I Hear? (It’s Death).” Add to that a memorable (albeit somewhat anxious) duet with Jenny Lewis and you’ll see why Thrashing Through the Snow is this Christmas’ most head-banging record.
