Watch the Blues Brothers Mall Chase Recreated in Stop Motion...with LEGOs

December 4, 2013  |  4:45pm

From Harold Lloyd’s clock stunt to Harold and Kumar’s cheetah ride, American cinema has had plenty of memorable moments, but few match the anarchic glory of the car chase through Dixie Square Mall in The Blues Brothers. There’s really little that could improve the iconic, consumer goods-crushing tour de force, except for maybe (and we’re just spit-balling here) a shot-for-shot remake constructed completely from LEGO bricks.

Conveniently enough, the good folks at Bricktease have just released such a flawless recreation, demonstrating the kind of obsessive attention to detail that could only come from adults who spend their free time arranging tiny plastic blocks. And if you’d like to compare the shiny, rectangular version with the John Landis-shot original, you can watch a side-by-side comparison here. You can check it out above, but trust us when we say it’s just much cooler when viewed through a pair of Ray-Bans.
