The Great Paris Post-It Art War
It started off innocently enough. Ubisoft Montreal, developer of games in the Assassin’s Creed and Prince of Persia series, decided to put in the windows of their office art made solely out of Post-It notes. The company recreated images from such classic video game icons as Mario, Pikachu and Yoshi. When a BNP bank nearby saw this, they decided to see how they could stack up. The first round of this creative battle can be seen here. In the second round, Ubisoft Montreal went all out. They decided to create one huge Post-It piece of art, recreating their famous character... read more

Watch Footage of India's Newest "Sport": Train Surfing
It would appear that India can’t get enough adrenaline. As if the stunning choreography in Bollywood musical numbers weren’t impressive enough, Indian folks have taken their agility to exhilirating—and downright perilous—new levels. A video appeared on YouTube recently documenting a couple of young Indian men practicing a new extreme sport of sorts that can best be described as “train surfing.” In the footage, the men jump onto the side of a train and cling for dear life as they appear to be physically dragged along the pavement. Suddenly they’ve hopped further up the side of the train and ride until... read more
Julian Beever's Pavement Drawings
With the explosion of socially charged street art like the excellent work of Banksy and Shepard Fairey in recent years, it’s easy to overlook the fact that there are still artists creating art in public spaces for the sole purpose of looking interesting, what some would call “art for art’s sake” that exists primarily to introduce something aesthetically intriguing into people’s daily lives. Julian Beever is an English chalk artist, and he’s been creating his mind-bending images on streets around the world since the mid-‘90s. Formally, his pavement images are part of a long tradition of Trompe-l’œil artwork, in which... read more
Lisa Frank Gets a Biopic
Every artist has to struggle for his or her work. And Lisa Frank—the artist behind vivid, loud images of unicorns jumping over rainbows and penguins locked in an embrace—is no exception. The Upright Citizens Brigade Theater has given Frank a biopic that details the school-supply artist’s success story. The piece covers Frank’s struggle through art school, her discovery of the school folder as a canvas for art, her quest for creative freedom, and the task of beating Ed Hardy in folder sales. Frank’s rise to fame through UCBT is an emotional, inspiring tale that may be best summarized by the... read more
Herman Dune and Jon Hamm
This gem has been out in the blogosphere for a while now, but it’s too great and strange not to share. Herman Dune is a French indie-pop duo that released their album, Strange Moosic, earlier this year. The music video for their single, “Tell Me Something I Don’t Know” got an extended video featuring Mad Men star Jon Hamm and a fuzzy animal that’s half muppet, half chewbacca. While both the fuzzy guy—who apparently is a “young runaway yeti”—and Hamm’s character act harmless, the whole thing is just generally creepy. Ultimately, the thing doesn’t make a whole lot of sense,... read more
The Best Wedding Photos Ever
We’ve all seen the classic wedding photos. You know, the ones of a beautiful couple that are laughing together at something off-camera, embracing each other lovingly, jumping in unison together and so on. Well, one couple decided to do something different with their wedding photos. The album, shot by Amanda Rynda, shows a couple, Juliana and Ben, having a simple picnic that goes terribly wrong. The idea came when Ben said he wanted a more masculine take on the wedding photo. In the album, the two show a unity in their resilience to overcome such insanity, so it’s pretty certain... read more

Frozen Pints Beer Ice Cream
Ice-cold beer and ice cream seem like the perfect complement to a summer day, so it’s only natural that someone would combine the two at some point. The people over at Atlanta-based Frozen Pints have, and the results sound pretty amazing—especially in August. Frozen Pints advertises six flavors, which include peach lambic, honey IPA and malted-milk chocolate stout. Each flavor goes through at least 12 test recipes at a local pub before it’s finalized. If you’re worried about getting a buzz after a bowl or two of the stuff, the company says on its website not to be too concerned;... read more
