And now, a look at a few of the latest movie trailers to hit the web:
Director: Justin Lin
Starring: Vin Diesel, Paul Walker, Jordana Brewster, Michelle Rodriguez
Release Date: April 3
Hilarious in a happy way, the trailer for Fast & Furious is pretty much sublime. Primed for an early April 3 release, the movie will reunite the four original cast members (“new model, original parts”), and despite the dubious “Soulja Boy” refrain, the trailer makes a coherent case for why this fourth installment should endure beyond the franchise's other sequels.
The Last House on the Left
Director: Dennis Iliadis
Starring: Tony Goldwyn, Monica Potter, Sara Paxton, Garret Dillahunt
Release Date: March 13
The idea of a glossy update of Last House on the Left is more than a little wonky, even at a time when obscure splatter titles like Sorority Row have remakes on the way. Wes Craven’s 1972 debut is a messy and volatile tale of rape, torture, murder and angry revenge designed to mimic the moral chaos of the Vietnam era. This new version is a few years too late to exploit our Abu Ghraib/Gitmo horrors, but its admirably efficient trailer poses a curious question: Could it work as satire? The sexual violence is still part of the movie, so that's hard to imagine. But given the cheerful brutality of the Saw franchise, the new Last House does seem to have an opportunity on its hands.
Fighting
Director: Dito Montiel
Starring: Channing Tatum, Terrence Howard
Release Date: April 29
The director of A Guide to Recognizing Your Saints presents: shirtless Channing Tatum hitting things!
