How do you combat the cold on a Sunday morning in Boston? Go to a crêperie.
There's a great one next door to the Sommerville Theater, and one by one
everyone in the band/crew find their way here. We've got a bit of time
today, so what else to do? Go to the movies and find some warmth and
comic relief. John watches the new film W by Oliver Stone. It helps
when the music venue is in the same building as a movie theater. I
could get used to this.
An old music friend of mine, Ken Bewick, drops by for Chinese noodle soup and to catch up on each others' lives. I invite him to sit in on a Talking Heads cover of "Crosseyed and Painless" together with Calexico and The Acorn. Even though we play a seated venue, the crowd wrestles out of their seats and toward the stage. I'm not sure that playing seated venues is the way to go or not. How about half and half?
All in all, a solid night. Time to push on towards the USA/Canadian border.
