Justice was served Saturday night as the dance duo from France headlined the final SoCo Music Experience tour stop in Altamont, N.Y. The two men from Paris performed crowd favorite and contagious hit single, “D.A.N.C.E.,” toward the end of the set, sending fans home satisfied.
Originally scheduled to be held at the
parking lot at historic Saratoga Race Course in Saratoga Springs,
N.Y., the SoCo Music Experience's venue was changed to the Altamont
Fairgrounds just West of the state capital, Albany. New York
Racing Association, which manages the track, was concerned about
parking and other logistics, so the location was changed to the home
of Albany County’s annual summer fair.
MGMT, one of the
day's main acts, was not available to perform as originally planned
due to the drummer suffering a broken foot. While the absence
was disappointing, the other nine bands compensated, and the SoCo
Music Experience had another successful day providing music lovers
with a free day’s worth of local and national talent.
Matt and Kim
Matt and Kim, a couple from
Brooklyn, gave an enthusiastic show, briefly stopping between each
song to interact with the crowd. Kim shared a short story about the
time that she drank Saratoga spring water during high school track
season because her coach told her that she’d run faster. The pair
brought a lot of positive energy to the stage, Matt ending the set by jumping off the stage into a crowd eager to catch
him.
Disasters of Hollywood
The crowd for
Disasters of Hollywood was a bit smaller than that of Matt and Kim,
but listening to these indie-rock dudes, it was clear to see they
love what they do.

Lotus
Between Lotus and Justice, SoCo's
Gonzo-esque experience was quite colorful and fanatical. Lotus, a
funky electronic dance group, was just another opportunity for the
crowd to really start moving around. The music and light show was
just a perfect warm-up for the main act to come.
The Whigs
The
Whigs, a rock band from Athens, Ga, consists of Parker Gispert,
Julian Dorio and Tim Deaux. Dorio garnered particular attention
from the crowd with his impressive drumming skills.
Justice
It seemed as if the all-day
concert goers had been waiting in anticipation for the 8:45 p.m.
performance of the electronic duo Gaspard Auge and Xavier de Rosnay.
With a mixture of rock and electro, the crowd was in another world,
dancing to contagious beats.
