Day one of Monolith was wet and loud. Despite the rain, more than 30 acts hit the five stages at the epic Red Rocks Amphitheater in Morrison, Colo. In between fighting for tent space and pulling on ponchos, Paste braved the rain and asked the crowd about their fan favorites.

Carly Baudis, 24, Durango, Colo.
"They’re one of the reasons I came. I love her music in general, but seeing her was really cool because she sounds exactly the same on the album. She just really feels it. You can hear it in her voice and see it in her face—she could feel it in her teeth."

Corrine Kirsch, 30, Colorado Springs
"I discovered Thao through Paste. This is my second time seeing her. I just love her."

Andrew Lindner, 18, Boulder, Colo.
"I’ve never heard Frightened Rabbit, but I’ve heard a lot of good things about them from a lot of people, so I’m really excited to see them live."

Patrick Milian, 20, Denver
"They’re one of the big reasons that I came. They fucking killed it. It was awesome. It’s the words, the energy. You can belt out every single word and your voice is totally hoarse and you still have Of Montreal to see."

Yonnas Abraham, 26, Denver
"Honestly, I’m not the biggest fan of Doom but this is a unique opportunity to see him at Red Rocks. I do appreciate his ability to rhyme and stuff, but I don’t necessarily think he has the dopest flow. But he is talented, and it’s pretty rare that he comes out, especially to Red Rocks."

Josh MacCurdy, 29, Denver
"I’m excited to see Doom. I was a big fan of the Danger Doom stuff. It’s more of just a novelty for me to see him because I never have before. It’s cool—it’s kitsch."

Erin Esurance, 31,  Aroura Borealis, Outerspace
"I’m excited to see the band who plays the song for the Outback Steak House commercial. I’m rating all of the bands not on talent but on how attractive they are on a scale of one to zero, like binary."

Davey Diamonds, 35, Boulder, Colo.
"I think David Bowe hung out with them, so that’s why I want to see them. They’re really cute on stage and androgynous. It’s really important for me to see a band that’s androgynous."

Yasmine El Tabib, 18, Seattle
"I'm so excited to see Karen 'Ooorrgasm.' I can't wait to see what she wears. She is just gonna scream. Her music is just like her breathing."

Will Lindsay, 18, Boulder:
"I'm so pumed to see the Yeah Yeah Yeahs. I saw them at Bonnaroo and they were sick. I'm super excited to dance."
