Mrs. Obama’s on Vogue’s March cover! The photo’s by Annie Leibovitz and the dress is by Jason Wu (he designed her white gown for the inauguration too).
I like the simplicity of the cover and the way her magenta dress pops, but I expected something a little more striking. Rachael thinks it looks like a Land’s End catalog.

Umm... why is this on PASTE again? Aren't high fashion and celebrety antithentical to independent music? If I wanted news about the President's wife on the cover of a fashion magazine, I'd watch Entertainment Tonight (barf). I know the President and his family are interesting and charming people, but this is fawning. Unless she's on the cover of a music magazine, this article doesn't seem to fit with the ethos of PASTE.
Thank you for posting this! I appreciate Paste helping me stay up-to-date on all pop culture musings, not just music, so I can be hip without watching trashy television! And I'm going to have to disagree with Rachael. It looks more like the cover of J. Crew. Naturally.
i agree with micah.
this isn't why i read paste.
Hi Micah and Danny,
First off, thanks for reading Paste and caring enough about what we cover to comment. Paste is about signs of life in music, film and culture. Music will always be first in that list and the main focus of what we cover, but frankly, we'd be bored if that was all we ever wrote about. The Form&Function blog is a catch-all for anything remotely style- or gadget-related. If you're not interested, it should be pretty clearly labeled and easy to ignore.
Best,
