Red Hot, 4AD Raise $1 Million for Charity
4AD and The Red Hot Organization have raised $1 million for charity with the proceeds from the Dark Was The Night album.
The 32-track album, was conceived and produced by Aaron and Bryce Dessner of The National and Red Hot founder John Carlin. It features tracks from the likes of Spoon, Sufjan Stevens, Blonde Redhead, My Morning Jacket, Cat Power and David Byrne.
The goal of the project was to raise awareness about the HIV/AIDS epidemic. Charities that will benefit from the $1 million raised include Advocates for Youth, After Hours Project, AIDS Resource Center of Wisconsin, Bronx AIDS Services, Camp Amerikids, Housing Works, Nebraska AIDS Project, Out Youth and Partners in Health.
