3. Ari Gold (Jeremy Piven)Entourage, HBO 2004 - present
We were as surprised as anyone when the most likeable character on HBO’s Entourage turned out to be the racist, sexist, homophobic, materialistic, insult-spitting Hollywood agent. As the show wore on and you began to glimpse the fears and insecurities he’d spackled over with machismo, Ari went from mere laugh-drawing caricature to sympathetic anti-hero.
“You know what they feed people on an indie set, Vinnie? Nothing! They don’t give you a trailer. They tell you to go sit on an apple box. Ever try to bang an extra on an apple box?”

What a tough choice. Tobias could have easily been picked, but probably GOB the right decision.
Kramer at #4?!
I love Dwight and Gob but in terms of sitcom characters, there is Kramer and then there is everyone else.
And where the hell is Fox Mulder?!
I second that sentiment... where the hell is Fox Mulder! I was concerned he wouldn't make it into this list as I saw who was emerging each day... Also Jerri Blank from Strangers With Candy was missing. I'd take her over GOB any day.
AD deserved to be number one spot. The only question was which ONE of their characters?
Excellent pick, Paste!
i'm really disappointed you have no 'it's always sunny in philadelphia' fans in paste, cus if there were charlie kelly would be on there no doubt. beats the mom from gilmore girls anyday. seriously start watching the show.
there are some good choices here but in my opinion Dana Scully and Smoking Man from The X-Files are the best TV characters ever.
Dana Scully is for me by far the best tv character ever created!!!!
