8. Dexter - Rolfe KentWith no commercials to interrupt the flow of the story, premium cable channels like Showtime can take their time during the opening credits, and it pays off. The creepy, carnival tune at the beginning of Dexter manages to communicate "serial killer" and "fun" as the violence of an ordinary morning—shaving, eating breakfast—sets the tone.
7. King of the Hill - "Yahoos and Triangles" by The Refreshments
Mike Judge's long-running series wouldn't be the same without a little grungy Southwestern surf rock to kick things off. The Refreshments may be gone, but Roger Clyne plays on. And so does King of the Hill, at least until 2010.
