4. Scrubs - "I'm No Superman" by Lazlo Bane
Must... resist... "change your life"... joke. The single-cam sit-com's star Zach Braff reportedly helped creator Bill Lawrence find the song from Santa Monica rock band Lazlo Bane. Of course, they politely declined. Maybe they didn't want to become the next Rembrandts with a TV show theme song and not much else to their name. They eventually relented and frontman Chad Fischer has gone onto produce music for films like Garden State and The Rocker.

3. True Blood - "Bad Things" by Jace Everett
A good theme song fits the content of its show, and the swampy "Bad Things" fits True Blood like a dirty, laced glove. The montage of blood, sex, religion, death and decay opens a show that spends much more time in the shadows, making those rare glimpses of light shine brightly.
