Let's face it; not everyone is gifted with a talent for gifting. As such, many of us often end up with, shall we say, less-than-ideal wrapped surprises this time of year. But in those times of despair and feigned excitement, what's a selfishly disappointed person to do? Drink away the pain, of course!
Given that it's a couple days after the biggest gift-giving holiday of the year and given that the Brick Store Pub in Decatur, Ga. (one of the finest beer-serving joints in the country) is a place where many of Paste's best ideas found fruition, I figured a round (or a dozen) of tasty holiday brews was in order. Try one or more of these from your favorite local bar or discerning liquor store. The descriptions come directly from the Brick Store's knowledgeable staff/menu. Enjoy, and when you're busy drinking away that fruitcake/boring tie/reindeer sweater/gift certificate to some silly store you don't shop at/etc., raise a glass for Paste:
Anchor Christmas 2008
Always a fan favorite & never disappoints. Seasonal spices, nutmeg, clove, cinnamon.... Spruce trees!
Brooklyn Black Chocolate Stout
Eagerly anticipated. Chocolate aromas & flavor come from 6 varieties of black, chocolate, & roasted malts.
Left Hand Snow Bound
Nicely spiced winter ale just in time for the holidays, gingerbready, bitter chocolate, cinnamon.

I definitely recommend the Weyerbacher and the Scaldis Noel. Weyerbacher is quickly challenging Dogfish Head for my favorite American brewery. And the Scaldis Noel isn't syrupy like the regular Scaldis. I'd also add the St. Bernardus Christmas Ale if you can find it.
I'm glad that Rogue's made it on your short list... being from Eugene where it is plentiful. Personally, I think the Christmas Ale is a bit too hoppy, but that's just a preferential thing. I dig their stouts...
