Yeah, yeah, I know
The backing vocals alone on this song are better than 87.3% of all Christmas songs ever written ever, and that's a documented fact.
Stevie Wonder - "What Christmas Means to Me"
This one has been in countless movies, so you've almost definitely heard it several times, but did you know that the song was written in part by Anna Gordy Gaye (big sis to Motown honcho Berry Gordy/first wife of Marvin Gaye)?
Mariah Carey - "All I Want for Christmas is You"
While discussing this song on instant messenger the other day with a friend, the conversation devolved into us basically saying over and over, "OMG, her voice!" She really does have some insane pipes, and this wonderful song wouldn't be the same without them. Also, because fun facts are fun, according to Wikipedia (take it with a grain of salt, as I couldn't find confirmation), this became the top-selling holiday ringtone of all time in 2006.
Are you a fellow non-fan of holiday music with few exceptions? Perhaps you want to argue that there are actually tons of other great, festive tunes? Or maybe you just really enjoy listening to Paste's holiday radio station and have to talk about how it's made your whole dang season? Regardless, I'd like to hear from you in the comments.

"All I Want for Christmas is You" doesn't suck? really? i had to double check that is was the "paste" website that i was on there for a second. and i'm still confused. funny being against experiencing christmas through music and tv that such a pop-oriented over-played travesty would make this list.
putting it in there with stevie wonder and elvis is not only a crime against music, but i would say against christmas as well.
Wow, I'm surprised not to see David Bowie and Bing Crosby. For me, "Peace on earth/Little drummer boy" is the best Christmas song ever.
For a steamy Christmas collection try listening to Over The Rhine's Snow Angels. Good listening when you and your paramour are home alone drinking eggNOG and enjoying the Christmas decorations.
Joshua James has a great rendition of Blue Christmas. the Fields & Floods EP is actually a compilation of7 really good Christmas songs.
I always liked "my first christmas as a woman" by the vandals and "christmas wrapping" by the waitresses
Any song with the lyrics "figgy pudding" is instantly disqulified.
Putting Mariah Carey on this is just all sorts of wrong.
The song sucks. Period.
My favorite remains White Christmas as sung by Otis Redding.
2 things about mariah carey. She is attractive and has a voice. Besides unlike most of the other diva's she has fewer issues than most.
Christmas without Elvis...could you imagine? Also there is a host of R&B Christmas music that is fab.
Mariah Carey endorsed by Paste? What's next?
"Sleigh Ride" by the Squirrel Nut Zippers on Christmas Caravan!
I combined the Elvis Christmas album, Christmas Caravan by SNZ and the Charlie Brown Christmas soundtrack into one CD and it's FANTASTIC!
"Christmas On Riverside Drive" by August Darnell of Kid Creole & The Coconuts fame off the ZE Christmas Record from 1983 is my guilty pleasure every year for the holidays. Check it out.
What's with all the snobs hating Mariah Carey's song? I know it's cool to hate "pop artists" but the song is awesome.
I'd dump the Mariah Carey song and add Greg Lake's "I Believe in Father Christmas."
