We used to be limited to monogrammed towels and Build-A-Bears, but now we can personalize just about anythinglike furniture, clothing, cookbooks and fonts. These three websites offer stylish and affordable customized products.

1. SpoonFlower.com

Forget having to decorate your home based on the pillows and curtains Bed Bath & Beyond and Macy’s have in stock—here you can design your own fabric. You could use it for curtains, pillows, even reupholstering. I’m going to start my own fashion line using fabrics from Spoonflower—right after I learn how to sew. And design clothes. Anyway, the price is pretty reasonable at $18 per yard.

2. YourFonts.com

Create a font using your own handwriting. I’d use it for party invitations and holiday cards (and cheesy as it is, my email signature). Your Fonts appeals not only to the narcissist in us all, but also the cheapskate in us all—it’s FREE.

3. Tastebook.com

Compile your favorite recipes from friends, family, cookbooks and cool culinary websites like Epicurious, and Tastebook will turn them into a themed cookbook. I love the clean design, and you can choose your own cover, colors, style and size. I’d like to collect recipes from party guests when they RSVP, and give them personalized Tastebooks as favors. It’d also make a thoughtful housewarming or wedding gift. Prices start at $19.99.
