The fall interns at Paste have a lot of duties, and we get the chance to write and read a ton about music every day. So when the editors told us we’d have the chance to make our own best of 2009 list, we were happy to oblige. Here are the top 10 albums as chosen by each of the fall 2009 editorial interns:
Gage Henry:
This year in music was a distracting one for me, especially since my time here at Paste. Making this list was difficult with all the music floating around the office. As soon as I listened and liked one band, I hardly took the time to settle in with them before I moved onto the next. It made this task something like a memory game, but I came out with the albums that, somehow, surfaced above the rest this past year.
1. Fanfarlo – Reservoir
2. Passion Pit – Manners
3. Sondre Lerche – Heartbeat Radio
4. The Avett Brothers – I and Love and You
5. Kings of Convenience – Declaration of Dependence
6. Susan Enan – Plainsong
7. fun. – Aim and Ignite
8. Mindy Smith – Stupid Love
9. M. Ward – Hold Time
10. Alberta Cross – Broken Side of Time

Finally - Someone at Paste who is giving one of the finest albums of the year some recognition: Fanfarlo's Reservoir. Easily one of the finest albums and greatest live acts of the year. Leave it up to the interns to understand that.
These lists are much better than the full-timers. Well done.
Noah and the Whale! Wow, thanks Christina- I'd completely forgotten about this group- and it's a great one! While not quite as great as Canadian and French indie, the British genre is still in general far superior to its American counterpart.
