Seven Questions We'd Like Answered in the Final Season of Lost

Seven Questions We'd Like Answered in the Final Season of Lost

In our current issue, we have a feature on Lost that asks a few salient questions: "What happened when the bomb went off? Where's Claire? Why are Hurley's lottery numbers so significant? Who's running things, anyway—Jacob? Richard? Widmore?"

That's not all we're curious about. As we anxiously—and by anxiously we mean gnawing on our remotes every time ABC plays one of those damned ads—await the start of the final season on Feb. 2, we present some other questions we'd like answered. Note that these questions could technically be construed as spoilers for anyone who's not up to date on the show, but all five seasons are free on Hulu, so we're not real sympathetic.

1. Just how exactly does Jack's father keep showing up on the island? A lot of other people in a similar, uh, state, have appeared on the show and then vanished without a trace. Could we maybe have some answers about how exactly they do that?

2. What does the statue symbolize?

3. What'll be the first quip from the mouth of leathery redneck Sawyer, when we finally see him again?

4. And for that matter, who will Kate choose—Sawyer or Jack? Because she's gotta choose one of them, right? Because isn't Swayer's girlfriend Juliet totally dead and Jack's marriage over, so they're both basically available for one long jungle boogie with her?

5. Who will prevail in the triangulated power struggle between Ben, Richard and John Locke? And what happens to the losers? Is there a fate worse than death? Because death doesn't seem so bad on this island. It's more like taking a nap.

6. What's gonna happen to Aaron? And the child of Sun and Jin? The children! Someone has to save the children!

7. How about that smoke monster? Maybe an explanation there?

In the process of writing this list, we learned that the Lost website has a video highlight reel of "everything you need to know about lost in eight minutes, fifteen seconds": a primer for the woefully late, a refresher for the rest of us. Four weeks left, people. Do what you need to do to prepare.
