Back in December, when I was writing the 8,000ish-word "Is Indie Dead?" essay that posted to the Paste site last week (and appears on the cover of our February issue, coming soon), I knew that not everyone who saw it would read it, and that not everyone who read it would read it all, and that it would likely be received online with an avalanche of "tl;dr." And I was right! Kind of. Because I didn't realize this, but apparently some folks find those four letters utterly insufficient, resorting instead to lovingly crafted image macros to express the full extent of their disregard. (And by "some folks" I really just mean "commenters on ohnotheydidnt," perhaps the Internet's true masters of flippant derision.) I know deep down that these beautiful specimens of graphic design weren't created just for me, but a girl can dream, can't she?

Metallica names new album, gets in another…
Gie yourself more credit! I read all of it and was really, really, hoping it'd be te cover story for your Feb issue. It's probably the best dissertation I've read on here so far (the Ke$ha on was awesome too, though). The embrassment of twitches part was genius. All-in-all I think "Post-Indie" works pretty well.
It WAS long, but I read it all in one sitting because I enjoyed it so much and thought that every word was necessary. Truly illuminating, very thought provoking, and extremely enjoyable. Well done!
I haven't read it yet, but not because it's too long. I'm waiting to get the paper magazine in the mail so I can curl up when I have some time and truly consider the thing.
I'm pretty excited!
That said, I might break down in the waiting process and just read it.
this was one of the best (if not THE best) essays i've read on "indie" and what it means (and doesn't mean) (and why it matters/doesn't matter). not tl;dr, but rather pl;rf2b = perfect length; read front to back :)
