Calling someone by his or her first name isn’t merely a sign of informality—it’s a sign of comfort. There’s a certain level of ease between people on a first-name basis. For example, I usually call Nate “Nate,” but when he’s trying to put Nine Inch Nails on the playlist and thus making me feel uncomfortable, I call him “Mr. Douglas” or “Mean Jerk.”
We hope you enjoy our sampling of wonderful songs that involve first names. Meanwhile, the first person to write a song called “Knate” wins a Frisbee.
Ready, break!
Yours truly,
Ms. Kiefer and Mr. Douglas

I couldn’t find any songs titled “Nate” or “Nathan” in my libary, so the band, NATHAN gets an honorable mention instead.
Hey, I have been enjoying these lists. If it’s not too much trouble could you also put the name of the cd/album these fine songs are off? Just makes it easier looking them up. Again, keep ‘em coming.....
Waylon Jenning’s “Amanda”!
This is my favorite list so far. And as such, I’m pulling the guitar out and beginning work on “KNATE (Web Warrior Remix 7.9)”. Hope you folks are ready to give me a frisbee!
we’ll start listing album titles tomorrow!
yeah, first name songs are always my favorite songs to list, mainly because i want to be that hip mom who names her kid after a song.
the jimi hendrix experience’s “isabella”
the kinks’ “lola”
ben folds five “emaline” as well as “jane”
derek and the dominoes’ “layla”
the poppy family’s “which way you going billy?”
