If you’ve read John Grogan‘s book, Marley & Me, then you know exactly the type of yellow labs I own. The bizarre, panic-stricken fits of separation anxiety are impressive - I’ve lost count how many times I’ve returned home to find the aftermath of one of these destructive rampages. Cell phones, Palm pilots, headphones, duvet covers, pillows, CDs, DVDs, books, magazines (oddly, they usually leave the textured cover of PASTE unscathed...the CD Sampler isn’t so lucky), suitcases, cups, picture frames ... nothing is sacred. These are the times when I call upon the soothing power of music to keep me from piledriving my dogs.

Here are few of my favorite soothers...what are some of yours?

1. Múm - “We Have A Map Of The Piano” (Finally We Are One)
2. Iron & Wine - “Cinder and Smoke” (Our Endless Numbered Days)
3. Engineers - “Home” (Engineers)
4. Damien Rice - “The Blower’s Daughter” (O)
5. Sigur Rós - “Glósóli” (Takk...)
6. Foodpill - “Maximum Distance From The Sun” (Elixir)
7. Ryan Adams - “Peaceful Valley” (Jacksonville City Nights)
8. Phosphorescent - “Not A Heel” (Aw Come Aw Wry)
9. Talkdemonic - “Mountaintops In Caves” (Beat Romantic)
10. Sufjan Stevens - “The Predatory Wasp Of The Pallisades Is Out To Get Us!” (Illinois)
11. Clogs - “5/4” (Lantern)
12. Caitlin Cary & Thad Cockrell - “Warm & Tender Love” (Begonias)
13. A Northern Chorus - “This Open Heart” (Bitter Hands Resign)
14. Hammock - “The Air Between Us” (Kenotic)
