This idea is brought to you by our editor Josh. I think it might be our best list yet, and we had a lot of fun putting it together. It’s the first playlist that focuses on bands rather than songs, so we simply picked songs we like.
It’s been a busy day, so I sent an email around the office asking for help thinking of (are you ready for this?) bands whose members aren’t from the places featured in the name. Below is a response I got from our fabulous editorial intern Rachael. Imagine her saying it all in one breath:
Boston is from Boston and Chicago is from Chicago. Kansas is also from Kansas. Asia, however, is from… well, Allmusic apparently doesn’t know, but I’m pretty sure it’s NOT Asia. Europe is from Sweden, though… Does that count? I consider Sweden more like Scandinavia… matt pond PA is also from Pennsylvania, but through them I found the New Amsterdams, from California.
That’s all I gots.

I’ll leave you with that.
Yours truly,
Kate
