Friday Random Weekenders: Josh Ritter, My Morning Jacket, Rock the Vote etc

| | Comments (1)

1) I don't need to lecture on the importance of voting this year, but I
would like to suggest if you have a blog/website/Facebook Page to add the
Rock the Vote Widget (
www.rockthevote.com/partners )

2) This may be in the running for the most fantastically bizarre video on
You Tube this month:
(
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MOnwrzssOjc&feature=email)  I now have my
Halloween costume for this year!

3) Here's my Bonnaroo re-cap:  My Morning Jacket, My Morning Jacket, My Morning
Jacket, Jose Gonzales, Levon Helm, Iron & Wine, Pearl Jam, Sharon Jones & The Dap Kings were fantasticmagnificentstupeneoso!

4) Sera Cahoone's "Only As The Day"  Check it and let me know if it's as good as I think it is? I know nothing about her.

5) If you are like me and listen to your headphones at work all day, I implore you to check out SoundWave 360 (www.soundwave360.com) This is the best sound enhancer these ears have ever encountered

6) Paste poster boy Josh Ritter is playing in my backyard with the Boston Pops Next week, June 27.  If you live anywhere near Titletown aka Boston this is a must see show.  (go to www.bso.org ) for tickets

7) So I did a radio interview on KUT in Austin defending the new My Morning Jacket record Evil Urges . I think I carried the debate, but my ego is not the most objective judge.  Thoughts: Listen to Sweet Talk talk about MMJ

Sera Cahoone is phenomenal. She played drums for Band of Horses on Everything All the Time, and her solo album is great; at Fig & Mint we've named it as one of the notables of the year so far. Also, thanks for sticking up for Evil Urges. Another of the best albums of the year.

About Sweet Talk

From the brain flow of Paste's Editor At Large:

Some nefarious music hounds from Decatur twisted my outsized ego into creating a dialogue littered with opinionated recommendations and myopic rants. Therefore, to put a smidgen of decency back into nepotism, I have stolen the title "Sweet Talk" in homage of my father who had a weekly sports and leisure column of the same in the early 70's that was syndicated in several small town newspapers in the land the gods made great, New England (sans Connecticut of course). Luckily this space will focus more on sporting leisure, my favorite kind.
