Sam Phillips to Tour
My interview with Sam Phillips is up on the site now and includes the news that she'll be touring this fall, including a trip to Atlanta. It's been several years since her last show here, a jaw-droppingly good set at The Red Light Cafe.
Musical Discovery of the Week
Don Chambers + GOAT
I never knew I loved psychedelic banjo music until I discovered Chambers' band out of Athens, Ga. The album title, I Got the Recollection of the Blood of the Lamb,
gives you a sense of what you're getting. It's a little bit (alt.)
country and a little bit (Southern) rock 'n' roll. And plenty strange
with songs like "Pig Luck" and "Devil Bucket." I've yet to see them
live but hopefully will this Saturday when they headline the Georgia Theater after our own Paste showcase at The Melting Point during AthFest this weekend.Beer of the Week
Gulden Draak (Belgium)
My
good friend the pastor refers to this as "Liquid Jesus," and I'm pretty
sure he took a job at my church simply because of its proximity to The Brick Store,
where it's often on tap. All I know is that if the Big Guy showed up to
a wedding party at my house and we ran of drinks, this very dark,
caramel-sweet Belgian triple is what I'd want Him to miraculously fill
the cistern with.
Go Dawgs
Finally, good luck to my Georgia Bulldogs this weekend as they play for a spot in the College World Series championship. With Smoltz and Glavine out, it's good to have some kind of baseball to watch this summer.

Hey, the Braves now have a rotation of young pitchers that are pretty darn exciting to witness. If you think you don't have anything to watch, you're just not looking hard enough. (Now if we could only get a clutch hit or 3.)
But yes, go dawgs, etc. etc.

Are three clear reminders that not only that God loves us, but that he has a plan for our lives!!!!
