How I Met Your Mother Review: "Field Trip" (Episode 7.05)

How I Met Your Mother Review: "Field Trip" (Episode 7.05)

One of the best aspects about How I Met Your Mother is how tightly written and self-referential the show is. Sure, this episode doesn’t reference anything too obscure or that old; however, it does continue the joke of the ducky tie and brings back Kal Penn as Robin’s therapist Kevin. The episode also marks the return of Ted’s GNB Building, which has been a subplot for quite awhile now and eventually become central point to Ted’s story about finding his wife. read more

Person of Interest Review: "Mission Creep" (Episode 1.03)

Person of Interest Review: "Mission Creep" (Episode 1.03)

"Mission Creep", this week's episode of Person of Interest, finally feels like the show is creating a path for itself in where it will attempt to go. How To Be A Gentleman Review: "How to Have a One-Night Stand" (Episode 1.02)

How To Be A Gentleman Review: "How to Have a One-Night Stand" (Episode 1.02)

For some reason How to be a Gentleman opens with a recap of the pilot. Did the writers/producers feel like no one would watch the premiere show, or is it that they feel the audience is as stupid as Bert? Either way it’s not a good sign for the show. The pilot had its highs and lows, but it was a pilot so weak plot and awkward dialogue can be excused. Unfortunately, it didn’t get that much better this episode and is at risk of flat lining. Reports are already swirling that HTBAG is at risk of being cancelled thanks to mixed reviews and sub-par viewership for a CBS sitcom. read more

How to Be a Gentleman Review: "Pilot" (Episode 1.01)

How to Be a Gentleman Review: "Pilot" (Episode 1.01)

David Hornsby (Rickety Cricket from It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia) has adapted a non-fiction novel that outlines, well, exactly how to be a gentleman in an easy to read contemporary guide to common courtesy. CBS’How To Be a Gentleman centers on Hornsby as Andrew Carlson, an uptight magazine columnist and his friendship with Kevin Dillon’s (Entourage) Bert Lansing. Bert’s a man’s man who is an Iraq War veteran turned personal trainer. Their differences provide comical tension, but the question is whether or not their relationship will be able to provide enough comedy to back an entire sitcom. read more

Person of Interest Review: “Pilot” (Episode 1.01)

Person of Interest Review: “Pilot” (Episode 1.01)

When looking at CBS’ primetime schedule, it’s clearly split into two groups. The first are a handful of sitcoms, the second, and more prominent, are a pile of mystery shows. With three different _CSI_’s, two _NCIS_’s, _Hawaii Five-O_, _The Mentalist_ and _Criminal Minds_, one might wonder if CBS really needs another show about solving crimes. Which brings us to one of CBS’ most anticipated new shows, _Person of Interest_. Does _Person of Interest_ stand out in the networks pile of mysteries? After the pilot episode, the answer seems like yes, or at least it is headed in that direction. read more
