10 Musicians Worth Following on Twitter

Now that the Twitter universe has expanded to fans of The View and What Happens in Vegas, it's time to figure out whose 140-character tweets are worth reading. More than just concert announcements and what they had for breakfast—the miniature prose of these 10 musicians is almost as interesting as (or, in one case, more interesting than) their music. (And fake Tom Waits has been removed)...1. ?uestlove (The Roots) - questlove Best recent tweet: on behalf of big dudes everywhere: im TIRED of mofos thinking im not aware if i sit on a remote or keys or a samurai sword...  read more

Paste's St. Patrick's Day Playlist

image not available

Dump loads of green dye into your local river, get gussied up in an overwhelming amount of green apparel, drink your weight in Guinness, regret that decision tomorrow morning and pop on this playlist: It's Saint Patrick's Day! Even if you aren't Irish, chances are you know someone who is, and it would be selfish not to celebrate their heritage, so we're here to help. Today is all about Irish beverages (car bombs, Guinness, Jameson), the color green, luckiness, shamrocks, general Irish pride, and of course, music about all of the above. Maybe that's not all today is about, but...  read more

2009 Grammy Awards Live Blog

2009 Grammy Awards Live Blog

As we said in our Grammy Predictions, we have a love/hate relationship with the Grammys.  But hey, we love music, so we're watching to see what happens. Could be a big year for Lil Wayne (did you see his interview with "Miss" Katie Couric?). Could be a controversial night if Coldplay's alleged Joe Satriani rip-off grabs some hardware ("Viva La Vida" by Coldplay and Satriani's "If I Could Fly"). But plenty of great artists are nominated (M.I.A., Allison Krauss/Robert Plant, Radiohead, Gnarls Barkley, Daft Punk, Brazilian Girls....we could go on), so as always, it'll be worth watching, especially...  read more

Rothbury 2008: Day 4

image not available

First up on Sunday’s bill was Ingrid Michaelson, a young songwriter whose handclapped single, “The Way I Am,” helped orchestrate a recent Old Navy commercial. Michaelson has a bright future ahead of her (one that does not involve discounted jeans and stylish sweaters), and she concluded her early summer tour with a set of quirky, coffeehouse pop/rock. Kudos go to two members of her band, especially the versatile Allie Moss, as well as Miss Michaelson herself, who raps a mean version of the Fresh Prince theme....  read more

John Mayer adds dates to summer/fall jaunt

John Mayer adds dates to summer/fall jaunt

A while ago, John Mayer donned a bear suit to get closer to his tailgating fans, asking them what they thought of "John Meyers" and telling them to drink more because that was the only way they'd get through the show. Hilarity and our growing affection toward brown bears ensued....  read more

John Mayer announces tour, leaves swimwear behind

image not available

Or at least we would hope. John Mayer will venture out on tour this summer with part of his Mayercraft entourage, bringing along Colbie Caillat and that red-headed musical sensation himself, Brett Dennen. As of today, tickets are available for Mayer’s faithful fan base, Local 83. For everyone else, the countdown stands at nine more days. If listeners a) don’t want to fight the throngs of screaming teenagers, b) don’t want their friends to know they actually kind of secretly really like John Mayer (not that there's anything wrong with that) or c) simply don’t want to risk seeing Mayer...  read more

John Mayer rocks the boat

We’ve all heard of the Titanic, the Nina, the Pinta, the Santa Maria, and most pertinently the Mayflower. But, when it comes to nautical travels, have you ever heard of the Mayercraft Carrier? It’s just the latest musically themed cruise concocted by Sixthman. In the past this same company has been able to marry a maritime atmosphere with musical artists like Emmylou Harris, Barenaked Ladies, Patty Griffin, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. So what talented artist do they have stowed away for this next voyage? If you haven’t figured it out from the kitschy boat title, it’s none other than the guitar...  read more

Fresh from his co-headlining tour with Sheryl Crow, blue-eyed folk auteur John Mayer has announced U.S. tour dates in support of his new album, CONTIUUM, released last September. The singer-songwriter will appear on the digital entertainment program Control Room on November 1, the American Music Awards on November 21 and The Late Show with David Letterman on Thanksgiving.
