It’s no spoiler to reveal that Glee’s Chris Colfer kills off the character he plays in his screenwriting debut. Like in Sunset Blvd. and American Beauty, he’s, well, Struck by Lightning before the opening credits end and narrates the events of the film from beyond the grave. Jason Bateman is set to make his feature film directorial debut with the spelling bee comedy Bad Words in which he’ll also star as a high school dropout who enters a spelling bee for children. The script, written by Andrew Dodge, made The Black List in 2011. Deadline reports that some big names have been added to the cast, including Kathryn Hahn, Allison Janney and Phillip Baker Hall.
