Bonnaroo 2009: Santi's Golden Performance
It sucks to be short at Bonnaroo. It sucks to be short at any concert, really. And at my meager stature of 5'3'', my typical view is all dreadlocks, all the time. With a year's practice, though, I've nearly mastered the art of squeezing through the throngs of unshowered neo-hippies.The key is to start from the sides and angle in toward the front, shamelessly taking every pathway that presents itself when the folks suffering from bad trips decide to exit the tents for much-needed timeouts. In the past, it's gotten me inches away from Lupe Fiasco and Iron and Wine,... read more

Free Summer concerts often entail some sort of cheesy Eagles cover band and many large, multicolored quilts. Of course, Brooklyn does things differently. Celebrate Brooklyn!, the hip borough's beloved free Summer festival series, is offering a pretty stellar lineup.... read more

Guess who's feeling unmotivated? This guy! Sometimes, though, it's fun to channel an apathetic mood into something productive. A soundtrack to lazy, as it were. The key here is to ignore what the song is actually about (listening requires motivation), choosing instead to base its inclusion off the title alone. Have a look at the list below (which I'm capping at 15, since any more than that would be too much work), click where applicable to hear the track and feel free to post your favorite lethargic lyrics, tired tunes, melodies of malaise and sleepy song choices in the comments.... read more

Found in: Concerts, NewsPaste's Signs of Spring Playlist: Running
There are many signals that usher in the changing of the seasons (celestial equinoxes, changing sleeve lengths, authoritative groundhogs), but the big tell will always be the absence or presence of outdoor exercisers. Here at Paste, we can tell it's springtime, not from the pollen that covers Atlanta in a frustrating yellow layer, but rather the spandex-clad runners who fill the sidewalks and our side-view mirrors. Atlantan runners, joggers and walkers serve a dual purpose: They remind us that the chill is over and that it's never to late to start that New Year's resolution. Then again, they could just... read more

Dump loads of green dye into your local river, get gussied up in an overwhelming amount of green apparel, drink your weight in Guinness, regret that decision tomorrow morning and pop on this playlist: It's Saint Patrick's Day! Even if you aren't Irish, chances are you know someone who is, and it would be selfish not to celebrate their heritage, so we're here to help. Today is all about Irish beverages (car bombs, Guinness, Jameson), the color green, luckiness, shamrocks, general Irish pride, and of course, music about all of the above. Maybe that's not all today is about, but... read more

Animal Collective was an early contender for The 2009 Album Cover of the Year, sure. Black Lips made an admirable stab at it. Neko Case and Antony each turned in rather kick-ass submissions as well. But pardon us as we refuse to acknowledge that there are 10 more months left in the year, and instead proclaim this, the cover for Soundtrack of Our Lives' forthcoming record (March 3), Communion, The 2009 Album Cover of the Year.... read more
