Will Ferrell, Adam McKay, Anne Heche Producing Comedy for NBC
Frequent collaborators Will Ferrell and Adam McKay have joined forces with actress Anne Heche for a new half-hour NBC comedy called The Judge, according to Deadline. The trio will produce the single-camera series written by Chad Kultgen (The Incredible Burt Wonderstone) based on an idea Heche presented to Ferrell and McKay’s Gary Sanchez Prods about a promiscuous woman who skirts the law while maintaining her job as a court judge. This could have been another one of those average, hit-and-run comedies that invade theaters for a few weekends before retiring to Netflix. It has all the trappings: a popular TV actor (Ed Helms) from a hit comedy series (The Office) in his first starring role, and it co-stars that comic constant, John C. Reilly. But thanks to a surprisingly touching, while also hilarious performance by Helms and a savvy script from newcomer Phil Johnston, Cedar Rapids is a refreshing change from the norm. read more
