Ben Kweller has covered a lot of genres in his musical life, but his forthcoming album Changing Horses (due Jan. '09) is a little bit country. First, Ben Kweller plays all of his albums live -- then, he releases his first live tracks. Recorded last December at a Soho House, a private club in New York City, the EP Ben Kweller: Live and Solo at the Artists Den has been available on iTunes since Tuesday, and features six of the 20 songs played solo acoustic on that almost-winter night. When discussing ambitious plans to record two albums at once, or the seemingly perilous task-at-hand of escaping flash flood waters without hanging up on an interviewer, the Texas-born rocker’s voice maintains a relaxed tonal quality, peppered with the more-than-occasional "yeah, man" and "you know," as if he were catching up with an old buddy.
