Following an Ice-Cream-Man-provided breakfast on Saturday morning, we reached the Ranch Arena, where Dead Confederate took the stage for an early-bird batch of haunted, shoegazing southern rock tunes. “Thanks for coming,” mumbled frontman Hardy Morris to the scattered audience. “We’re Vampire Weekend.”...  read more

Dave Matthews Band works on new album, tours

It seems like only yesterday, but that's why we don't trust our intuition. It was actually four whole years ago that that Paste profiled Dave Matthews, calling him "just your ordinary rock star." All those years later, he's still ordinary, but in the very best way. That's why, despite the millions of albums sold and trillions of concerts performed, the least egotistical band in rock will make what could be its most collaborative album ever....  read more

Over 100 NCAA Division I schools participated in the contest, where students sent “invitations” to the band via text message. Voting closed on Oct. 15 but, if you go to one of the participating institutions, keep an eye on this website to see if...  read more

Dave Matthews Band Cleans Up Its Act

Dave Matthews Band’s latest project is a breath of fresh air — literally. Through two privately owned energy companies called NativeEnergy and Clean Air-Cool Planet, the band will counteract the 18,000 tons of carbon dioxide it has emitted through various aspects of touring over the past 15 years. These companies fund clean energy projects that counteract the effects of pollution. NativeEnergy and Dave Matthews Band first teamed up four years ago through One Sweet Whirled, a campaign aimed at stopping global warming. The band compensated for 2,175 tons of carbon dioxide generated from its 2004 tour. For more information, about...  read more
