The Best Worst Voices In Indie Rock
Last week we debated the best voices in indie rock. But there’s another kind of great voice out there—the kind that isn’t classically good, but its technical problems just make it more lovable. Here are my picks for the best worst voices—you can listen below. Feel free to add to the list in the comments section.... read more

If the hypothetical world of indie rock and pop (no, not that one) over the last decade could be sketched out, common consensus would see connecting lines crisscrossing between New York, Austin, Omaha and Seattle. Amateur geographers though we may be, that's a frustratingly Amero-centric list, especially since it ignores the quebeçois charm of Montréal.... read more

Welcome to The Gorge, y'all. Sasquatch 2008 is here and it's overwhelming. Edwards sang "B is for bullshit and you fed me some," but I'd argue that "B" is actually for "badass." She is just that.... read more

Why do you think Destroyer is so polarizing, and how do you feel about the fact that it is? Dan Bejar: I think people were upset and confused by the positive ink spilled about Rubies. Music writers and tastemakers, in general, had never really liked Destroyer records, so it was a confusing situation. Now with some of that momentum behind us, it is safe for people to lash out once again against the band, my voice, the lyrics. People who like Destroyer... read more

After kicking some serious SXSW booty last week at one of the Paste/Stereogum day parties, Destroyer is showing no signs of ceasing momentum. Tuesday (March 18) marked the release of the Dan Bejar-fronted project’s 8th studio album, Trouble in Dreams. Bejar has been working round the clock over the past year, touring with The New Pornographers throughout 2007 and releasing his latest side project, Hello, Blue Roses, this past January. Destroyer will embark on a spring tour in mid-April in support of the newborn release. Shows will continue into the early days of summer. Dates: April 16 - Minneapolis, Minn.... read more
