Anyone who saw Grindhouse in the theaters remember that while the films were good, it was the experience as a whole that made the film amazing. This included the various trailers that started and then split up the film. One of those, Eli Roth's Thanksgiving, was disturbing and entertaining, so it's not that big of a surprise that he'd want to follow it up with something.
