Black Francis, who, like Prince, is hardly ever mentioned without a history of past nomenclatures, has announced that the Cooking Vinyl release of his “mini-LP” Svn Fngrs has been fittingly pushed back to the day most associated with American procrastination, April 15. Black Francis is back. Frank Black will release a greatest hits record. These are both the same person, and his real name is Charles. Frank Black 93 – 03, featuring songs from nine of Black’s solo records, will be released June 12 on Cooking Vinyl Records. A bonus disc contains live tracks recorded in 2006, as well as a new song, “Threshold Apprehension,” the first single from the new Black Francis album. Following his change-of-pace record from earlier this year, Honeycomb, Frank Black recently returned the studio to record the follow-up. Joining Black were many of the musicians who helped him make his last record, including Spooner Oldham and Cheap Trick's Tom Peterson.
